CELPIP Reading
CELPIP Reading: all 4 parts explained
The CELPIP-General Reading test has 4 scored parts and 38 questions, covering correspondence, diagrams, information passages and viewpoints.
How the Reading test works
The Reading test has four parts and 38 scored questions. You read messages, a diagram, an information article and an opinion article, and answer multiple-choice questions. Some questions ask you to complete a reply or a comment by choosing words from a drop-down menu inside the text.
Each part has its own time limit, and the test moves on by itself when time runs out. The parts get harder from Part 1 to Part 4, so managing your time is just as important as your English.
Quick tips
- Read the questions before the passage, so you know what to look for.
- Most wrong answers use words from the text but change the meaning. Check the whole sentence.
- Never leave a question blank — there is no penalty for a wrong answer.
