CELPIP Writing
CELPIP Writing: all 2 tasks explained
The CELPIP-General Writing test has 2 tasks: writing an email and responding to a survey question. Each asks for about 150–200 words.
How the Writing test works
The Writing test has two tasks: writing an email (27 minutes) and responding to a survey question (26 minutes). For each one, you should write about 150–200 words on the computer. The test screen has a word counter and spell check.
Raters score your writing in four areas: your ideas and organization, your vocabulary, how easy your writing is to read, and whether you completed the whole task with the right tone.
Quick tips
- Spend 2–3 minutes planning before you start typing.
- Answer every part of the task — missing one point costs more than a few small errors.
- Save the last 3–4 minutes to check your grammar, spelling and word count.
